Is your teen struggling to manage their emotions? Traditional psychotherapy may feel like too much for teens struggling with "regular" middle school or high school issues. However, you may feel like they might need a little help.
MyndHealth offers an alternative to one-on-one therapy by teaching your teen four core skills they need to manage their own emotions: emotional literacy, cognitive coping, behavioral coping, and interpersonal coping.
Our goal is to prevent mental illness from developing in the first place and avoid costly and long-term therapy in the future.
If your child needs therapy, we can refer you to a licensed psychotherapist within our organization or in your community.
Unlike many online mental health programs developed in Silicon Valley by tech companies, our program was developed by a clinical psychologist and mental health researcher who specializes in childhood and adolescence. Our teen and parent programs are based on decades of research in the field.
Dr. Maya Boustani has published dozens of articles and book chapters and has presented at many national conferences about mental health prevention programming for children and adolescents. She is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health to determine best practices to prevent mental anxiety and depression in teens.
She developed these programs based on her own clinical work and research for the past decade along with her experience as a mother of two teens.
First, we want to make sure that our program is the right fit for your teen. If your teen has high mental health need (such as self-harm or a diagnosed mental illness), we will connect them with a licensed mental health professional.
If your teen is a good fit for our program, we will connect them with one of our Mental Wellness Specialists to get them started on their mental wellness journey.
Our specialists have experience in the mental health field and are trained in-house.
After picking a Mental Wellness Specialist, you will book your first appointment online. You will then receive an email with confirmation information about your appointment, including a Zoom link.
On the day and time of your appointment, you will click on the Zoom link and meet with your live Mental Wellness Specialist. We hit the ground running and will give your teen concrete skills from day 1 to help them fee better.
We recommend 4 to 6 sessions to benefit from our entire program. Be sure to schedule weekly online sessions with your Mental Wellness Specialist for best results.
Once you have completed the program, we will screen your teen once more. If they are doing better, we will wrap up and wish them the best. We may recommend a few more sessions if they need additional support. If they are feeling worse, we may recommend they see a licensed mental health professional.
